About Us
Dr. Sheron C. Patterson is the senior pastor of the St. Paul United Methodist Church located in the heart of Dallas, Texas. This historic, 128 year old congregation ministers in a contemporary manner to a vast array of the city’s concerns ranging from the homeless to the fine arts.
Dr. Patterson is a nationally recognized Christian relationship expert. Her sage advice has been broadcast via Black Entertainment Television (BET) and Jet Magazine. On a weekly basis, believers in 40 cities hear her “Love Doctor” broadcast on the syndicated ABC radio format REJOICE. Locally she co-hosts “Inspirations Across the Metroplex” on KRNB 105.7 FM’s gospel music/relationship radio program on Sunday morning.
A trailblazer and champion of women’s advancement, Dr. Patterson is a first in many areas. She was the first African American woman to be ordained in the North Texas region of the United Methodist Church. These extraordinary accomplishments landed Dr. Patterson a place of honor in the National Women’s Museum, located in Dallas, Texas.
In 1995, Dr. Patterson founded the Love Clinic, a contemporary Christian relationship institute dedicated to healing the hurts of our community. Since its inception the Love Clinic has produced seminars, a best selling book, college tours, a summer camp for teens and a website. Dr. Patterson is also the author of five books entitled, “Ministry with Black Single Adults,” “I Want to be Ready,” “Single Principles,” “The Love Clinic: There is a Doctor in the House” and “New Faith.” Additionally, she writes a weekly column for The Dallas Examiner newspaper. Her newest book will be released by Putnam Press in October 2002 entitled, “The Love Clinic - How to Heal Relationships in a Christian Spirit.”
Dr. Paterson holds an undergraduate degree from Spelman College in Atlanta, GA, two Masters degrees and a Doctor of Ministry degree from Perkins School of theology at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas. A native of Charlotte, North Carolina, Dr. Patterson is married to Robert Patterson Sr. and together they have two sons, Robert Jr., and Christian.
